Reliever Teaching
We invite any person with a recognised Early Childhood Qualification to register as a Relieving Teacher for the Association. To become a reliever for Heretaunga Kindergartens please request a relievers pack which will be sent to you and will provide you the relevant information to fulfil the role as a relieving teacher. All relievers must hold a current practicing certificate (ECANZ) and a current first aid certificate.
Please email careers@hfka.co.nz to request a relievers pack.
Pay and Conditions
All teachers in Heretaunga Kindergartens are covered by the pay and conditions as stated in the national Collective Employment Agreement for Kindergarten Teachers, negotiated by NZEI: Te Riu Roa.
This is one of the few collective agreements in the Early Childhood Sector and provides national coverage for a national service.
This agreement also includes a commitment by the Government to pay parity for kindergarten teachers with primary and secondary teachers and this was fully implemented in 2006.
All Kindergarten teachers are covered by the State Sector Act and therefore employment negotiations are carried out directly with the Ministry of Education, rather than with individual Associations.
We offer excellent professional development opportunities, six weeks annual leave per year, registration support, and excellent professional support and guidance.
The Heretaunga Kindergarten Association has a commitment to Equal Employment opportunities.
Code of Professional Responsibility and Standards
The Code sets out the high standards for ethical behaviour that are expected of every teacher. The Standards describe the expectations of effective teaching practice. Together they set out what it is and what it means, to be a teacher in Aotearoa New Zealand.
