Nau mai, haere mai ki Peterhead Kindergarten.

A place where we value our tamariki as taonga with unlimited potential. Where teachers work closely with tamariki and whānau to understand each child’s unique learning journey and their family’s aspirations for them. We aim to provide an atmosphere of calm, where our tamariki learn about their emotions through supported interactions with each other everyday.

At Peterhead Kindergarten we value whānau, hapū, iwi and community. We are blessed to see many generations of whānau come through our doors and have longstanding relationships with the Flaxmere community. We have close ties with Te Whai Hiringa, Peterhead School and provide weekly visits for tamariki who are transitioning to start school there.

We are an Enviroschool – we have a focus on the Atua in our environment and on providing a sustainable Kindergarten. Tamariki are involved in our maara kai/vegetable garden, collecting eggs from our chickens, recycling, feeding our worm farm and generally looking after Papatūānuku. We are lucky to have a big space with lots of trees where tamariki can explore and learn in a peaceful environment. Our kindergarten is a homely environment where daily meals are prepared and children’s interests are catered for.

Relationships and aroha come first at Peterhead Kindergarten and our guiding pou values of Manaakitanga, Kaitiakitanga, Whakamana and Whakaako underpin everything we do. Please feel free to drop in and visit if you’d like to know more…
